Got this for Christmas, and it already had a sharp edge (I hit it on my extra fine stone, and it held the even sharper edge well). Love the heft and forward balance, especially for finer work on larger cuts of meat, and the handle is just right for my grip.
I did use the knife for prepping my veggies, and while heavier than your normal chef knife, it was easy to guide and didn't slow my work at all. You could barely tell any difference to the hone of the blade after doing work and cleaning, so it's going to be a versatile tool. Very happy with this knife, and I expect it will be handy for skinning and dressing harvests as well. I will eventually have all the knives northern has available!

I absolutely love the Loki series! I bought it paired with the butcher knife and I am beyond happy with them both. They came super sharp right out of the box. They are well made and look fantastic. They are still just as fun to use now as when I first started using them a few months ago!! Totally worth every penny!

This is a well made, very high quality knife. I own 500$ hand made knives and this one is as high quality as any of them. It arrived razor sharp. I barely touched it to check the edge, and it immediately drew blood. Hands down our favorite knife

Received my knives. They have a nice weight to them and they were very sharp right out of the package. I warn you now they are sharp. I have the bandaid to prove it. I used the loki on fresh pork and it was cutting half inch strips with ease. I am looking forward to using these for future game butchering.

Shipping took a little long, I won’t lie…..but when I finally received it I was blown away. The weight of the knife is balanced and the blade is sharper than any other knife I’ve had. Well-balanced and good weight to the knife. Recommend the sharper and sheath as well.

The moment I received this knife, I knew it was going to be my new favorite. The weight and balance are spot-on, and I put it to work right away. I used it to cut ribeye steaks, onions, potatoes, and mushrooms for dinner and it was a dream to work with. I also used it to slice some pie, and it was perfect for that too.

Great knife, solid quality and beautifully designed, feels great in the hand. It’s been great on everything from dicing veggies to carving a 4 rib roast and even filleting boneless chicken breasts for Hawaiin meat jun. My only complaint is it should come with the leather sheath. Feels wrong to put this nice of a knife in the drawer unprotected. Excited to order the Bjorn next!

I purchased a knife and bought the surprise knife I am very happy with them and they were as advertised, for those that have seen the Japanese version beware they charge shipping and tariff tax with the knives I purchased from this USA company there were no shipping charges and no tariff tax. I’m very happy with my purchase I have used the several times while grilling ribs and pork tenderloins they are sharp and hold their edge!
